"Custer died for your sins" a bumper sticker from the 70's. made me laugh everytime I saw it, because in a way, it is true.

Based on recent past events in our nation I thought this was apt.....

"There is a cult of ignorance in the US, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding it's way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
Isaac Asimov (1920-1992)

Isaac Asimov was a little bitty guy I almost knocked over at a Star Trek convention years ago. He stepped up behind me a little too close on a line. I felt like a farm animal accidentally squishing the guy they sent to feed me or something.

My buddy was so jealous of this literal brush with greatness he almost crushed a 'just had hip surgery' Soupy Sales at a comedy club. He wasn't too happy about that.

He was indeed small..saw him interviewed on tv. Brilliant writer and thinker...wrote on many topics other than sci-fi btw.
Must have been a long time ago since he died in 1992.
He's one of a few icons of the genre along with Clarke, Heinlein, Bradbury, et al.

It was. Late 80s early 90s probably just before his death. Thankfully I didn't move that date up by knocking him over :)
It was at the Penta in NYC - Creation Con. A lifetime ago, things are a bit fuzzy. Might've been just a sci-fi gig but I remember Star Trek - I'm not into comics. Used to be all sorts of home grown vendors, had a real local flavor. Last one I went to a few years ago over in NJ smelled corporate, very polished and mainstream. I will say I saw Suzie Plaxton stroll past - she's tall and gorgeous. Probably still is.

A bit of a left handed approach to making this statement, but when I hear UFO eyewitnesses describing their event for the umpteenth million time decades later I think back on events that happened to me 30 years ago and can't help but scratch my chin a little. Travis Walton comes to mind, the Rendlesham crowd, Charles Parker. Basic story remains the same - sometimes exactly the same minus some of the embarrassing details (Travis) - but manages to sprout legs anyway.

Yeah .... somehow hacking up noncombatants makes for bad press. Not that it wasn't done regularly, it's just rare to have the perpetrator have their ass handed to them in such a spectacular fashion. Oh, and yes George, those Gatling Guns are much to cumbersome to bring along .......

Not to mention he was disobeying orders when he got himself and 200 men slaughtered, then the history books until the 60's made him a "hero". Very disgusting.

He had his heroic moments prior to that. Gettysburg comes to mind.

I completely agree with Dalai Lama.

Brainwashing losers needs constant attention, because they might suss the game out and get organised with some violence against elites. You know, elites get money, losers get bed time stories. Nice job for Dalai Lama, he gets paid by both sides. Everybody needs him. Love guy's business model though, it stood test of time for millennia. You put in some cheap fantasies in, as a down-payment, and get out tons of cash to invest into property in offshore heavens, like London town.

So it doesn't come as empty rant, here is an article explaining how Dali Lamas, as employers, for centuries had a privilege of having forced sex with their employees, better known as nuns.
