Eerie Glowing 'Doorway' Appears in Sky Over Indian City

A woman in India captured footage of a curious rectangular shape resembling a glowing doorway that appeared in the sky over a city and no one is quite sure what could have created the eerie anomaly. The strange scene was reportedly filmed this past Sunday evening as Aditi Singh was returning to her residence in the city of Bengaluru. Sharing her video of the odd event on Instagram, she explained that "my friend was dropping me back home" when they noticed something rather unusual above them in the form of a distinctly rectangular shadow-like shape that seemed to glow around its edges.

Marveling that the very weird aerial anomaly did not appear to be "a natural phenomenon," Singh observed that "the clouds were running against it like there is something levitating in the air." The bewildered witness also noted that "the moon was in the waxing crescent phase," which made the considerable degree of illumination surrounding the oddity to be particularly inexplicable. According to Singh, the strange sighting lasted for approximately 90 seconds before the anomaly vanished and "the sky was just filled with clouds." Left with no explanation for what had appeared in the sky, she ultimately mused that "I have so many questions" and asked if anyone could identify a cause for the rectangular shape.

Singh's video quickly went viral after it was shared on social media and viewers had all manner of suggestions for the nature of the peculiar anomaly. Some imaginative individuals speculated that it was some kind of doorway or portal that briefly manifested before disappearing. Others theorized that perhaps it was the shadow of a building or a light projection from some event being held in the city. Another plausible possibility put forth by people online is that the anomaly is an optical illusion known as a Brocken spectre. As of now, there seems to be no consensus regarding what Singh filmed that night and she remains mystified by the event.

One of the world's most active volcanoes is spewing out weird rings of smoke

Europe's most active volcano, Mount Etna, is blowing scores of ethereal "vortex rings" every day from a single vent located in one of its most active craters.

On July 23, Boris Behncke, a volcanologist with Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology who is based in Sicily alongside Mount Etna, wrote on Twitter that the volcano had been "releasing dozens of gas rings" from a single vent in Bocca Nuova crater for around a week and shows no signs of stopping.

Vortex rings are made from a mix of smoke, steam and other gases released from volcanic vents at high speeds. They can remain airborne for several minutes before eventually disappearing.

Photographer Luca Cosma, who also runs the tour company Etna Hiker, snapped a series of stunning pictures of the vortex rings on July 23 while escorting a group to the Bocca Nuova crater.

This morning just after 2 a.m. EDT, sonic booms rolled across the eastern USA, shaking buildings hard enough to wake observers. Sky watchers looked up and saw a brilliant fireball tearing itself apart overhead.

The fireball made two audible booms. After one bright flash it broke into 3 distinct fragments. One remained bright as it descended below the horizon. It could have possibly touched down.

The American Meteor Society has collected more than 65 eyewitness reports from 9 US states. The fireball first appeared over Ohio, streaked south, then petered out over Georgia. Observers said "it flashed like lightning," "it shook my house," and "I've never seen anything like it."

Blue jets are so rare to see that only a handful have ever been captured worldwide from the ground or sky. In this single-image photograph, there are seemingly different morphologies of blue jets. To the right, a giant spotlight-type beam of a jet exits the top of the storm aiming towards space while to the left of it, multiple thinner jets seem to follow electric field lines above storm activity.

The impressive fireball in this video was recorded over Spain on September 13, at 4:06 local time (equivalent to 2:06 universal time). It was brighter than the full Moon. The event was generated by a rock (a meteoroid) from an asteroid that hit the atmosphere at about 89,000 km/h. The fireball overflew the provinces of Granada and Jaén (Spain). It began at an altitude of about 100 km over the locality of Moraleda de Zafayona (province of Granada), moved northeast, and ended at a height of around 36 km over the locality of Arbuniel (province of Jaén).

Mysterious 'Unidentified Falling Object' Smashes into Phoenix Home

A Phoenix woman was left scratching her head after something seemingly plummeted from the sky and smashed into the roof of her home, yet the object behind the peculiar event is now nowhere to be found. According to a local media report, the confounding incident reportedly occurred this past Friday afternoon when Lisa Sikorski was working from home and experienced what she later likened to an earthquake. "I felt like the house was going to fall down," she recalled, observing that she heard a series of loud booms which repeated for approximately 15 seconds. As the moment was incredibly brief, Sikorski simply went back to her work and only realized that something truly strange had happened when her a concerned neighbor forwarded a photo of her damaged roof.

"It looks like there's almost an impact zone and the tiles spread out around it" she observed, "you can see the wood planks underneath, our roof actually. I mean it hit hard enough to move heavy tiles, but not to break through the wood so that's a good thing." Remembering the series of strange house-shaking sounds that she heard earlier in the day, Sikorski surmised that the mysterious event is what caused the odd damage to her roof. However, when it comes to determining what exactly was behind the curious incident, the homeowner is positively bewildered as there is no sign of any object atop her house which could account for the incident.

"To me, it felt like something that came from the sky," she recalled, but indicated that "there's no evidence" of an unidentified falling object anywhere around the residence. That said, she did muse that "the only thing is possibly if there was something that it could be still on the roof somewhere." While the homeowner awaits a visit from a repair company to assess the damage and possibly discover the object that hit her roof, people online have offered their own theories for the mystery with the prime suspects being a piece of ice that subsequently melted, an errant drone, and, of course, aliens.
