IIRC when taking the tour of the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park - a real Gilded Age actual friggin' mansion - they point out the late 19th century flush toilets, indoor plumbing and electric lighting in the tour. Of course, they have their own small hydro plant on the property the get the electricity in the first place which sort of sets the benchmark as to who had what. Sure, a multi baziliionaire could in the era. Meanwhile, everyone else was wiping their ass with the Sears catalog out back .........

The supporter, Linzi Smith, is a lesbian and objects to men claiming to be lesbians. In response, the club compiled a dossier on her by trawling through her social media postings, in an effort to discover her identity (she was pseudonymous online, but left their investigators enough clues to track her down).

It is quite astonishing the world we live in in 2024. I can only imagine these sorts of things getting worse as time goes on, with the combination of totalitarian left-wing ideology and surveillance technology. The people who think this way hold all the levers of power except elective office. The Conservative government, owing to its own uselessness and incompetence, is likely to be voted out later this year to make way for a Labour one, which is a truly terrifying prospect for the future of this country.

She faces up to 30 years in prison for mortgage fraud and another 10 for the perjury convictions, with sentencing yet to be scheduled. Experts say it's unlikely she'll serve anywhere near 40 years in prison - but say the two felony convictions mean it's highly likely she will end up with a custodial sentence.
