I'm not laughing at the idea that there is and has been an extraterrestrial presence among us, personally I think it quite possible and really don't put any guardrails of Belief around what form that might take.
What is worth of mockery IS the human condition, why people are so freaking gullible and fall for total BS thinking that maybe, just maybe they've stumbled upon some kernel of truth from the comfort of their jammies. They haven't, sorry. It's why Billy Meier, Bob Lazar and all the other bullshit artists have literally wasted everybody's time for the last several decades, because there is a thriving market for their wares. Ufology, such as it is, has earned the mockery it gets. It makes it that much harder for people which actually want to investigate anomalous phenomenon for-real that much harder. Maybe an Avi Loeb, for example - definitely not a Jeremey Corbell or George Knapp. Maybe that's why somebody like Robert Bigelow does his own thing
